The world’s largest international airline has announced that flights to a major city in Africa are cancelled.

In a travel update on the Emirates website, issued on Thursday October 30, the airline revealed that flights to and from Dar Es Salaam in Tanzania will be cancelled on Friday October 31.

The cancellation comes as a result of “ongoing civil unrest” in the largest city in Tanzania.

Any passengers connecting with Emirates through Dubai International Airport with a final destination of Dar Es Salaam will not be accepted for travel at their point of origin until further notice.

While the flight cancellation currently only affects travel on Friday October 31, Emirates is continuing to monitor the situation closely.

However, flydubai’s 21-times-weekly route to Zanzibar, a popular island destination in Tanzania, has not been affected and will continue to operate as normal. flydubai is also still currently scheduled to fly to Dar Es Salaam on Saturday November 1.
