Prayash Sahye crowned Best Sommelier 2025 at La Paulée by Constance Hotels & Resorts

The eighth edition of La Paulée by Constance Hotels & Resorts, held in the enchanting settings of Constance Prince Maurice and Constance Belle Mare Plage, offered an unforgettable week of wine discoveries marked by refinement, sharing, and excellence.

The highlight of this prestigious event was the final of the Best Sommelier of Constance Hotels & Resorts competition, which took place on May 16, and crowned Prayash Sahye, representing Constance Prince Maurice.

This high-level competition brought together three talented finalists — Yudish Seenauth (Constance Belle Mare Plage), Sébastien Uzice (Constance Lémuria Seychelles), and Prayash Sahye — who had to demonstrate perfect mastery through demanding tests: blind tasting, presentation of exceptional wines, food and wine pairing, and showcasing their extensive knowledge of oenology.

“The competition is an exceptional opportunity for our sommeliers to showcase their expertise before an international jury,” emphasized Jérôme Faure, Corporate Sommelier of Constance Hospitality. “It is in these moments of sharing and excellence that true craftsmanship is revealed.”

Recognized for his precision, passion, and professionalism, Prayash Sahye stood out brilliantly amid remarkable competition.

“It’s an immense honor to receive this title. Being evaluated by world-renowned winemakers is an unforgettable experience. It motivates me to keep improving and to share this passion through every glass I serve,” said the winner.

A week of exceptional sensory experiences

Since its launch in 2017, La Paulée by Constance has established itself as a major event in the oenological calendar of the Indian Ocean, inspired by the traditional end-of-harvest celebrations in Burgundy. The 2025 edition brought together renowned winemakers, Michelin-starred chefs, expert sommeliers, and discerning enthusiasts for an exclusive program featuring themed workshops, private tastings, bespoke gourmet dinners, and enriching exchanges.
